HERMA eco Labeller
"That means value retention, durability and investment security even in the entry-level segment." After all, the HERMA eco is produced on the same production line as the significantly more powerful HERMA 500 in Filderstadt, Germany – and therefore carries the genuine HERMA DNA," emphasises Martin Kühl, head of the labelling machine division.
A host of new features
With the same pricing as the predecessor model HERMA basic, the HERMA eco is characterised by a multitude of new features. The integration of the new HERMA eco into a packaging line and therefore into a higher-level control system (PLC) is now more extensive and convenient than ever before in this HERMA performance class. This is ensured, for example, by a number of additional I/O signals. The system controller enables automatic power on/off, separate starting of the labelling process and manual pre-dispensing, which is particularly advantageous when setting up a labeller. In the future, the printer and the release unit will also have separate connections that can be controlled separately. For example, a printer can also be used in conjunction with a pneumatic transfer unit, which significantly expands the flexibility and range of applications of the new HERMA eco. This means that it is well equipped even for simple pharmaceutical or healthcare systems, not least because the HERMA eco is now equipped with a master encoder function. This ensures that automatic synchronisation with the speed of the conveyor belt is always carried out. That ensures precision, even at the maximum speed of up to 30 metres per minute for labels up to 160 millimetres wide. The redesigned winders and unwinders also contribute to accuracy, because now less inertial mass has to be moved. The empty carrier tape is quickly and easily removed from the rewinder by pulling an expanding mandrel out of the winding core.

Future updates via USB interface
The simple, proven menu structure with just one operating level remains unchanged. However, the three control buttons are significantly larger than on the previous model, which is more convenient, especially in difficult environments. What's more, the HERMA eco can now be updated via a USB interface – another feature that contributes to investment security and future-proofing. The connector and connecting cable of the HERMA eco are the same as those of the higher-performance HERMA 500. Using both models can significantly reduce the storage space required for spare parts.
Individually configurable online
The HERMA online configurator, which is unique in the industry, makes it even easier for machine builders in particular to customise the HERMA eco to specific requirements. This applies, for example, to the choice of clear width, the provision of a release and transfer system or the use of the horizontal version of HERMA eco. The option of individually configuring labellers in advance can also save time and money because design adjustments on the part of the customer can be avoided.
