About Luciana Pellegrino
Luciana Pellegrino is the first woman to assume the presidency of WPO – World Packaging Organisation, within the 57 years of its existence. She was elected unanimously by WPO Board Members and took over this new role in November 2023, heading to a 3-year tenure. As a first move as president, Luciana Pellegrino attended COP28 in Dubai at WPO’s first time participation in the conference.
On a global level, Luciana has been a Board Member of WPO since 2002 and Vice President for Marketing since 2009, supporting the growth of the organization, the establishment of projects and partnerships, the share of knowledge and the promotion of initiatives towards packaging innovation, marketing, education, sustainability and saving food.
Currently WPO counts with 63 country members represented by national packaging bodies around the globe, as and a vast range of activities from the WorldStar Awards to Sustainability guidelines and education programs, among many others, and a global presence at international trade shows and conferences.
Going beyond, Luciana has been involved with the packaging industry for over 27 years, and since 2002 as the executive director and General Manager of the Brazilian Packaging Association, the national body in Brazil that gathers and supports companies from the packaging chain and FMCGs for greater innovation and advancement.
In this role, Luciana has been able to lead strategic activities on behalf of the organization, company members and market affairs, pushing ABRE’s strategic plan, activities and projects to leverage the positive impact of packaging in society, also leading packaging market and consumers assessments, addressing regulatory affairs, publishing sustainability guidelines and tools, structuring international conferences and speaking at national and
international events.

• Graduated in Business Administration with emphasis in Foreign Trade by Mackenzie University, Brazil
• Specialization in Environmental Sciences by Mackenzie University, Brazil
• Extended program in Design Thinking at IIL at Illinois Institute of Technology, USA
